2018 Class, Hana Deguzman, has committed to play softball at the University of Puget Sound (WA). The Mitty High senior plays for the Sting 18G-Gron team.
With academic and athletic talent, Hana had interest and offers from up and down the West Coast as well as far across the country in Massachusetts. Always passionate about her studies and researching everything, the process of recruiting was a lot of diligent, hard work for Hana. She did her marketing, went to a lot of camps and built great rapport with many coaches. It was really a challenging decision and Hana took all aspects into account including the beautiful coastal setting of Puget Sound. In the end, she was 100% proud and honored to choose to be a Logger.
With over 33 schools attending 18G-Gron's final five fall games last weekend in Huntington Beach, one of them was the UPS Head Coach, Kellyn Tate. This set the stage for a rare occurrence. Hana was able to commit to Head Coach Tate in person and also announce it to her teammates before she left for the airport. Fun Fact: We actually arranged for her congratulations to be announced to the entire plane by the Southwest flight staff before we hit the runway to fly home.
Congratulations Hana!
